AN OCEAN OF KNOWLEDGE
For EUC Nordvest, we designed and developed voresfisk.dk — a brand new concept built entirely from scratch. This fun and interactive learning universe is an online portal tailored for teachers and students in 4th to 6th grade. With its playful design and engaging content, the platform dives deep into the world of fishing and ocean life, sparking curiosity and making learning fun.
Fase 01 Research & key audience insights
To speak the language of middle schoolers, we explored their world - classroom vibes, style of communication and interests outside of school. We also dived into the Danish fishing industry, exploring the fisher’s daily life, various fishing methods and qualification of different fish.
These insights laid the groundwork for developing a playful and engaging platform that connects with middle schoolers’ curiosity and interests.
Fase 02 Concept & Design
With a strong focus on UX and UI design, we ensured the creation of a user-friendly and visually appealing platform. Keeping the children at the center, we developed a concept that communicates directly and at eye level with them in an engaging way. The design, incorporating blue tones and maritime elements, brings the theme to life, while Mågen Mågens, our playful mascot, guides students and adds humor. The site features a subject portal with seven subjects and assignments that can be printed or completed online, all designed to captivate children’s curiosity and make learning both fun and interactive.

Fase 03 Content production
We’ve created more than 20 school assignments across 7 subjects, all written and designed from scratch and matching the students' level. We created a quiz allowing the students to test their knowledge of fisheries, reinforcing what they've learned while exploring the site. The glossary compiles fishing terms with simple descriptions that children can easily grasp. We’ve also introduced “Word of the Week” to encourage students to learn something new each week. In addition, we’ve designed 42 fish cards inspired by Pokémon cards. Each card includes fun facts and superpowers, offering an exciting and accessible way for students to learn about different fish.
Fase 04 Development
We’ve coded the site from scratch and created a customized design system to ensure a consistent, streamlined look, including colors, typography, UI elements, and illustration style. The assignments are interactive, allowing students to complete them where they are - online.

Fase 05 User testing
During the development of Voresfisk.dk the website was tested on both teachers and students. For students, we focused on the user journey, ease of use, and whether the content was age-appropriate and fun. We also tested if students learned about the fishing industry through the platform. For teachers, we ensured they understood the site’s purpose, could find the teacher’s guide, and knew how to use it in lessons.Assignments were tested with students from grades 4-6, including various learning types and one student with ADHD, to ensure clarity and appropriate difficulty. Teachers also reviewed the tasks to confirm they matched the students' abilities.

Fase 06 Launch & Advertisement
In connection with the launch of the website, we created engaging SoMe ads targeting both teachers and parents on Facebook and Instagram. Furthermore we created animated banners designed to capture the attention of teachers, featuring Mågen Mågens with a playful message directed at teachers on both Folkeskolen.dk and in their print trade magazine.
